Send Flowers
- The Way We Send Flowers has Changed Greatly Over the Years
The highlight of someone’s
day can be when the delivery person knocks on the door with a beautiful bouquet of flowers just for them. Over the
years there have been many ways to send flowers to that special person in your life. The earliest way was to go
into the florists and have them help you to pick just the right arrangement and once you had paid for it they would
have a member of their staff deliver it.
However as much as this
service worked well as long as the recipient lived in the same town as you, there was no way to send flowers to an
international address. For servicemen who were stationed in a foreign country far from home there was only one way
to send flowers to their loved ones. They would have to send the
money to someone they trusted and ask them to arrange for the delivery. This usually required weeks of planning
and being able to trust that the person in question would actually take care of making sure that the flowers
arrived on time.
The next way to send
flowers out of town or out of the country came about with the age of the telegraph and the telephone. Here you
would go into your local florist and tell them what you wanted and where it was to
be delivered. After paying the bill the florist would find a listed florist in the area that your delivery was
for and call them to place the order. Then a confirmation telegram and the money were sent to finalize the
order. While relatively reliable this method was not immune from errors and disappointments were not
unknown.
Easy of Use -
Send Flowers Online
With the advent of the
Internet there is now the possibility of sending flowers to London or anywhere
else in the world from the comfort of your home or office. You will find dozens of florists and florist referral
services online that offer catalogs of their floral arrangements for you to browse at your leisure.
Once you have found what
you want you simply place your order and the company you are dealing with takes over and does the rest. If you are
dealing with a third party broker they will contact a florist close to the delivery address and make the
arrangements for you.
One of the great benefits
of being able to use the Internet to send flowers is that you can have them delivered the same day. Flowers are a
special treat not only for the person they are delivered to, but also for the person who orders them.
When there is a special
occasion it can give a person a lot of pleasure knowing that they actually got to choose the floral arrangement
that will be delivered.
Before the internet you
basically had to have faith in the florist at the other end and that not only would your flowers be delivered on
time but would be everything that you wanted them to be for that special person.
